Comillas is a small township and municipality in the northern reaches of Spain, in the autonomous community of Cantabria. The Marquessate of Comillas, a fiefdom of Spanish nobility, holds ceremonial office in the seat of power at a small castle which overlooks the town. The Comillas Pontifical University was housed here before it moved to Madrid, and the old university buildings are among the finest examples of architecture in the town. Besides this, there are many notable medieval and baroque buildings.
Comillas is a hidden gem located in the Cantabria region, known for its stunning beaches, picturesque architecture, and rich history. The town is home to several architectural wonders, including the Palace of Sobrellano, designed by the famous architect Antoni Gaudi. In addition, the town is also home to the University of Comillas, a prestigious institution founded in 1890.
One of the main attractions in Comillas is the beautiful beach of Playa de Comillas, which offers crystal clear waters and breathtaking views of the coastline. The beach is perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and relaxing, with plenty of bars and restaurants nearby to enjoy a refreshing drink or a delicious meal.
