A mango is an edible stone fruit produced by the tropical tree Mangifera indica. It originated in the northeastern part of the South Asia, in what is now Bangladesh, northeastern India and Myanmar. M. indica has been cultivated in South and Southeast Asia since ancient times, resulting in two modern mango cultivar lineages: the "Indian" and the "Southeast Asian" types. Other species in the genus Mangifera also produce edible fruits called "mangoes", most of which are found in the Malesian ecoregion.
One of the highlights of a visit to Mango is undoubtedly its location in the heart of the Langhe wine region. The area is renowned for its production of Barolo and Barbaresco wines, and there are plenty of opportunities to sample the local vintages at the many wineries and tasting rooms in the area. WE recommend taking a guided tour of the vineyards and cellars to learn more about the winemaking process and to taste some of the finest wines the region has to offer.
Aside from its wine culture, Mango is also steeped in history. The village dates back to the Roman era and has a rich architectural heritage, with many beautiful buildings and landmarks that are well worth a visit. WE suggest starting with a stroll through the historic center, taking in the sights of the medieval castle, the Church of San Martino, and the striking clock tower that looms over the village.
