Blue Jolie

Scilla is a genus of about 30 to 80 species of bulb-forming perennial herbaceous plants in the family Asparagaceae, subfamily Scilloideae. Sometimes called the squills in English, they are native to woodlands, subalpine meadows, and seashores throughout Europe, Africa and the Middle East. A few species are also naturalized in Australasia and North America. Their flowers are usually blue, but white, pink, and purple types are known; most flower in early spring, but a few are autumn-flowering. Several Scilla species are valued as ornamental garden plants.

As you explore Scilla, you'll be greeted by a picturesque town that's nestled between the Tyrrhenian Sea and the rugged mountains. The town's main attraction is the Chianalea di Scilla, a charming fishing village that's famous for its colorful buildings and narrow streets that lead directly into the sea. Here, you can wander around the village's alleyways, watch the fishermen bring in their daily catch, and taste the freshest seafood dishes in the local restaurants.

If you're looking for more natural attractions, head to the Ruffo Castle. Perched on a hilltop, this medieval castle offers breathtaking views of the sea and the town. From here, you can take a leisurely stroll through the nearby nature reserve, which is home to a variety of flora and fauna.
