CASA AUGUSTA

Riez is a hilly commune in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in Southeastern France. It is located northwest of the Lac de Sainte-Croix, stemming from the Verdon, on the road to Valensole, at the confluence of the Auvestre and Colostre.

As you wander through the narrow streets of Riez, you'll be transported back in time to the medieval era, with its well-preserved buildings and ancient ramparts. One of the town's standout landmarks is the 12th-century Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption cathedral, which boasts an impressive Romanesque facade and beautiful stained-glass windows.

But Riez is not just a town of historical significance. It is also a gateway to the stunning Gorges du Verdon, a canyon carved out by the Verdon River that is known as the Grand Canyon of Europe. You can take a leisurely hike along the gorge's rim, or for the more daring, try your hand at rock climbing or canoeing through its turquoise waters.
