Konya is a major city in central Turkey, on the southwestern edge of the Central Anatolian Plateau, and is the capital of Konya Province. During ancient history and into Seljuk times it was known as Iconium. In 19th-century accounts of the city in English its name is usually spelt Konia or Koniah. In the Late Middle Ages, Konya was the capital of the Seljuk Turks' Sultanate of Rum, from where the sultans ruled over Anatolia. Today it is the spiritual centre of the Mevlevi Order, famous for its Whirling Dervishes.

Konya is a city rich in history and culture, with a fascinating mix of modernity and tradition. It's known as the spiritual capital of Turkey since it's the home of the great Sufi philosopher Rumi and the whirling dervishes. The city has a lot to offer, from stunning architecture to delicious food, making it a must-visit destination.

One of the main attractions in Konya is the Mevlana Museum, which is the final resting place of Rumi, the founder of the Mevlevi order. The museum is a beautiful example of Islamic architecture, with intricate tile work and stunning calligraphy. You can also witness the famous whirling dervishes performing their spiritual dance in the museum.
