Xixona or Jijona is a town and municipality in the Valencian Community on the eastern coast of Spain.
As you wander through the streets of Jijona, you’ll immediately notice the town’s unique architectural style. The houses are built using a traditional technique called “tapial,” which involves using locally-sourced materials such as clay, sand, and straw. This gives the buildings a rustic, earthy feel that is both charming and authentic.
One of the town’s main attractions is the Turron Museum, which offers a fascinating look into the history of Jijona’s most famous export. You’ll learn about the different types of turron, how it’s made, and the role it has played in the town’s economy over the years.
