Skalica is a town in Slovakia in western Slovakia in the Záhorie region. It's the largest town in Skalica District. Located near the Czech border, Skalica has a population of around 15,000.
As you walk through the narrow streets of Skalica, you'll immediately notice the town's unique architecture. The colorful houses and buildings are adorned with intricate details that reflect the town's historical significance. The highlight of Skalica's architecture is the Church of St. George, a Gothic masterpiece that dates back to the 14th century.
Aside from its stunning architecture, Skalica is also famous for its delicious pastry called trdelník. This sweet treat is made by wrapping dough around a stick, grilling it over an open flame, and then rolling it in cinnamon sugar. You can find trdelník in almost every corner of the town, but for the most authentic experience, head to the Skalický trdelník bakery.
