Matinhos is a municipality in Brazil that arose in 1920s. It is considered the "Girlfriend of Paraná" as the date of its emancipation was June 12, Lovers' Day in Brazil.

One of the main draws of Matinhos is its stunning beaches. There are several beaches to choose from, each with its own unique vibe. For a more secluded experience, head to Praia Brava, which is surrounded by lush vegetation and has clear, calm waters. If you're looking for a livelier scene, check out Praia Central, which is lined with restaurants, bars, and shops. And for those who want to try their hand at surfing, Praia Mansa is the place to be.

But there's more to Matinhos than just beaches. The city is also known for its delicious seafood, which you can sample at one of the many local restaurants. Be sure to try the traditional dish of barreado, a slow-cooked beef stew that's a regional specialty. And if you're feeling adventurous, head to the nearby town of Morretes to try the famous dish of feijoada, a hearty bean and meat stew that's beloved throughout Brazil.
