Essaouira, known until the 1960s as Mogador, is a port city on the Atlantic coast in western Morocco. It has 82,962 inhabitants as of 2024.

As soon as you arrive in Essaouira, you'll be greeted by the fresh sea breeze and the stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean. The city's medina, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a maze of narrow streets and alleys filled with shops, cafes, and restaurants. You'll find everything from traditional Moroccan handicrafts to modern fashion boutiques, as well as local eateries serving up delicious seafood dishes.

One of the most iconic landmarks of Essaouira is the Skala de la Ville, a 18th-century fortress built to protect the city from invaders. From the top of the fortress, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the ocean and the city. Another must-visit attraction is the Essaouira beach, a long stretch of golden sand that's perfect for swimming, surfing, or simply soaking up the sun.
