Schoorl is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Bergen, and lies about 8 km northwest of Alkmaar. Until 2001, Schoorl was also a municipality of its own.
As soon as you arrive in Schoorl, it’s impossible not to be struck by the sheer beauty of the landscape. The town is situated at the foot of the largest sand dune area in the Netherlands, which stretches for miles and offers endless opportunities for hiking, cycling, and exploring. Whether you’re a seasoned outdoor enthusiast or simply looking to enjoy a leisurely stroll through the countryside, Schoorl has something for everyone.
One of the highlights of any trip to Schoorl is a visit to the Klimduin, a massive sand dune that’s over 50 meters high. It’s a popular spot for locals and visitors alike, who come to climb to the top and take in the breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. If you’re feeling brave, you can even slide down the dune on a specially designed sled, which is a thrilling experience that’s not to be missed.
