Gordes is a commune in the Vaucluse department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in southeastern France. The residents are known as Gordiens. The nearest big city is Avignon; smaller settlements nearby include Cavaillon, L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and Apt.
As you wander through the cobbled streets of Gordes, you'll be transported back in time to the medieval period. The village's impressive castle, Château de Gordes, towers over the village and serves as a reminder of the region's rich history. Nearby, you can visit the Sénanque Abbey, a stunning 12th-century monastery surrounded by lavender fields.
For those seeking a taste of the local culture, Gordes offers plenty of opportunities to sample the region's world-famous cuisine and wine. The village is home to a number of traditional restaurants, bistros, and cafes that serve up delicious Provençal dishes made with fresh, local ingredients. And of course, no visit to the region would be complete without a visit to one of the many wineries that dot the landscape.
