Maria Wörth is a municipality in the district of Klagenfurt-Land in the Austrian state of Carinthia. The centre of the resort town is situated on a peninsula at the southern shore of the Wörthersee. In the east, the municipal area borders the Carinthian capital Klagenfurt. The municipality consists of the two Katastralgemeinden Maria Wörth and Reifnitz.
As you explore Maria Wörth, you'll be transported back in time to the 9th century when the town was founded by Benedictine monks. The town's centerpiece is the stunning Maria Wörth Church, a Romanesque-style church built in the 9th century that sits on a peninsula overlooking the Wörthersee Lake.
The town's natural surroundings are equally impressive, with the Wörthersee Lake providing a breathtaking backdrop for visitors. The lake is the largest and warmest in Carinthia, making it a popular spot for swimming, boating, and watersports.
