Ismailia is a city in north-eastern Egypt. Situated on the west bank of the Suez Canal, it is the capital of the Ismailia Governorate. The city had an estimated population of 380,000 in 2024. It is located approximately halfway between Port Said to the north and Suez to the south. The Canal widens at that point to include Lake Timsah, one of the Bitter Lakes linked by the Canal.

As you explore this fascinating city, you'll discover a wealth of historical sites and cultural landmarks. One of the most famous attractions in Ismailia is the Suez Canal, which is a vital waterway that connects the Mediterranean Sea with the Red Sea. You can take a boat tour of the canal to see the massive container ships and cargo vessels that pass through every day.

Another must-visit destination is the Ismailia Museum, which houses a vast collection of artifacts and exhibits that showcase the city's history and heritage. You'll also find several beautiful mosques and churches throughout the city, including the Al-Fatatry Mosque and the Virgin Mary Church.
