Reserva Del Mar

La Guajira terrane is one of the geological provinces (terranes) of Colombia. The terrane, dating to the late Cretaceous, is situated on the North Andes plate and borders the Caribbean, Tahamí and Chibcha terranes along the Bucaramanga–Santa Marta Fault. The southern boundary is formed by the Oca Fault with the Chibcha terrane.

As you wander through the town's streets, you'll notice its colorful facades and charming architecture, which are a reflection of its mixed heritage of indigenous, African, and Spanish cultures. Gaira is also known for its lively music scene, which is deeply rooted in the Afro-Colombian culture and features traditional instruments like maracas, drums, and guacharacas.

One of the must-visit places in Gaira is the Parque de la Leyenda Vallenata, a beautiful park that pays homage to Colombia's Vallenato music genre. Here, you can admire statues of famous Vallenato artists and learn about the history and evolution of this unique musical style.
