Slane is a village in County Meath, in Ireland. The village stands on a steep hillside on the left bank of the River Boyne at the intersection of the N2 and the N51. As of the 2022 census, Slane's population was 1,445. The village and surrounding area contains many historic sites dating back over 5,000 years. The village centre, as it is laid-out today, dates mainly from the 18th century. The village is in a townland and civil parish of the same name.

The first thing you'll notice about Slane is its picturesque setting. Nestled in the heart of the Boyne Valley, this small town is surrounded by rolling hills, lush green fields and the meandering River Boyne. This stunning landscape provides the perfect backdrop for outdoor activities like hiking, cycling and fishing.

But Slane is more than just a pretty face. It's also steeped in history, with its roots dating back to the ancient Celts. The town is home to the historic Slane Castle, which has been in the Conyngham family for over 300 years. The castle has played host to many famous musicians over the years, including U2, the Rolling Stones and Guns N' Roses, who all performed at the annual Slane Castle Concert.
