Nakhon Ratchasima, commonly known as Korat, is the capital of Nakhon Ratchasima province and the largest city of northeastern Thailand. It lies 250 kilometres (160 mi) northeast of Bangkok, at the western edge of the Korat Plateau. The city municipality had 126,391 registered residents in 2019, the seventh-highest in Thailand. Its urban area held 466,098 people in 2021, the third-largest after Bangkok and Chiang Mai. The built-up area has spread well beyond the municipal boundary since the late 20th century, and the city is the region's main centre for processing rice, tapioca, and sugar.

As the largest province in Thailand, Nakhon Ratchasima is home to a diverse range of attractions that will appeal to every type of traveler. History buffs will love exploring the Prasat Hin Phimai, an ancient Khmer temple that dates back to the 11th century. Meanwhile, nature lovers will appreciate the beauty of the Khao Yai National Park, which is home to a variety of wildlife species, including elephants, tigers, and gibbons.
