Uxmal is an ancient Maya city of the classical period located in present-day Mexico. It is considered one of the most important archaeological sites of Maya culture, along with Palenque, Chichen Itza and Calakmul in Mexico, Caracol and Xunantunich in Belize, and Tikal in Guatemala. It is located in the Puuc region of the western Yucatán Peninsula, and is considered one of the Maya cities most representative of the region's dominant architectural style. It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site along with the nearby ruins of Kabah, Sayil and Labna.
Located in the heart of the Puuc region, Uxmal was once a thriving Mayan city, and its ruins are now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As you wander through the ancient temples, palaces, and pyramids, you'll be transported back in time to a world of sacred rituals, impressive architecture, and fascinating legends.
One of the most distinctive features of Uxmal is the intricate stone carvings and sculptures that adorn its buildings. The most famous of these is the imposing Pyramid of the Magician, which stands at over 100 feet tall and is said to have been built in a single night by a dwarf magician.
