The Old Byres

Washford is a village on the Washford River in the civil parish of Old Cleeve, Somerset, England. The village is next to Cleeve Abbey, one of the best-preserved medieval monasteries in England. It centred in a valley close to the Bristol Channel on the A39 road 7 miles (11 km) east of the resort town of Minehead and 2 miles (3 km) southwest of the port of Watchet.

As you arrive in Washford, you'll be greeted by a picturesque landscape of rolling hills and verdant pastures. The village itself is brimming with character, with its charming thatched-roof cottages and traditional pubs that exude a sense of warmth and hospitality.

One of the main attractions in Washford is the magnificent Cleeve Abbey, a medieval monastery that dates back to the 13th century. The ruins of the abbey offer a glimpse into the region's rich history and provide a fascinating insight into the lives of the monks who once called it home.
