Guimarães is a city and municipality located in northern Portugal. Its historic town centre has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001, in recognition for being an "exceptionally well-preserved and authentic example of the evolution of a medieval settlement into a modern town" in Europe. The Nicolinas are the city's main festivities.

As you wander through the streets of Guimarães, it's hard not to feel like you've stepped back in time. The town's well-preserved medieval center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is full of narrow cobblestone streets, historic buildings, and ancient churches. One of the must-visit sites in Guimarães is the Castle of Guimarães, which dates back to the 10th century and played a significant role in Portugal's history.

Another popular attraction in Guimarães is the Palace of the Dukes of Braganza, a grand 15th-century palace that was once home to the powerful Braganza family. Today, the palace is open to the public and houses a museum that showcases the history and culture of the region.
